On leaving RN worked on a building site then went to Fords at Dagenham. Then joined the Merchant Navy. Afterwards became a stoker at Rochford Hospital where he met his wife at the Badminton Club. Then went on to be a Pay Clerk, Warden in a home for blind people, car park attendant, doorman at Civic Centre and finally store keeper at local college. Had s mild heart attack at age of 38. Died on 18/1/2009.
